Ways to Give
We thank you for your interest in giving to Susquehanna University. For your convenience, there are many different ways to give -- whether you are interested in donating money, securities, planned gifts, and even your time. No matter which method you choose, know that your gift directly benefits the students of Susquehanna University -- through scholarships, classroom resources, campus facilities, special events, career opportunities and more. Each donor, each dollar and each gift has the power to change lives. Cash, Check, Credit Card Gifts made via cash, check and credit card are among the most common methods of giving at Susquehanna University. These gifts are tax deductible and can be given easily via postal mail or our online form. University Payroll Deduction Susquehanna University faculty and staff can make contributions automatically through payroll deduction. Securities By making gifts of stock, bonds, mutual funds and other securities to Susquehanna University, you can receive a double tax break: avoid capital gain taxes and get a current-year income tax deduction for the full value of your gift. For donors who own appreciated long-term capital gain assets, such as stocks or mutual funds, it is almost always more advantageous to donate the appreciated asset than to make a cash gift. These gifts are fully deductible at their fair-market value and they allow the donor to avoid the capital gain tax on the shares they donate. Please click here to fill out a Security Transfer form that will ease the process of transferring securities from your broker to Susquehanna University's account at Janney Montgomery Scott. Or, if you have stock or bond certificates, please click here to fill out an Irrevocable Stock or Bond Power. Each form may be filled out online and printed at your computer by pressing the "print" button at the top of each page. Or, if your broker will accept a request via e-mail, simply copy and paste the Security Transfer into an e-mail. If you have any questions or need assistance filling out the forms, please contact Carol Sanders at Sandersc@susqu.edu, 570-372-4356 or toll free at 800-353-7970. Planned Gifts You may give long-term gifts -- including bequests, charitable remainder trusts, gift annuities, life insurance, and retained life estates -- gifts that may provide you with income as well as other tax and financial planning benefits. Check out our Gift Planning Calculator to help you determine the benefits of several planned giving options. You should always coordinate gifts of this sort with your attorney, accountant, or financial advisor. Volunteering Some campus events need more than just financial resources -- people like you make a big difference in the success of our students, our programs, and our university. Giving Societies Susquehanna University's Decade Members and Leadership Giving Societies serve to recognize and honor our milestone givers, beginning with the first cent you give! * Please note our fund year runs from July 1 of the current year through June 30 of the following year.
