Equipping the Sciences, Advancing Academics

A state-of-the-art science facility will transform teaching and learning in ways that have critical impact on academic quality. The 75,000-square-foot science facility will be prominently situated on the site of the North Hall parking lot across University Avenue from Seibert Hall. It will be the largest academic building on campus and include 19 teaching and research labs, 30 prep and support spaces, and a rooftop greenhouse.

The facility will house Susquehanna's biology, chemistry and earth and environmental sciences programs. The investment will benefit all students, because science education is a requirement for all majors. The initiative also will advance Susquehanna's academic programs, with a renovated Fisher Hall helping to accommodate enrollment gains and anticipated growth to 2,200 students. More than two-thirds of Fisher will be available after the new building's opening, offering a number of academic programs spaces that are larger and more modern.

The $45 million project, of which at least $15 million must come from philanthropy, is the leading priority of the Changing Lives, Building Futures campaign.
